Professor Aris Georgakakos, director of the Georgia Water Resources Institute, was nominated and appointed to the National Climate Assessment Development and Advisory Committee (NCADAC). The National Climate Assessment is a Presidential initiative carried out under the auspices of the Global Change Research Act of 1990. The NCADAC mandate is to prepare and present a comprehensive report to the President and the Congress that evaluates, integrates, and interprets the findings of the $2.6 billion federal research program on global change (USGCRP).
