School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) alumnus J. Paul Oxer of Sugar Land, Texas has been
appointed to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) governing board for term to expire Jan. 31, 2017. TDHCA addresses a broad spectrum of housing and community development issues, manages nearly $3 billion in state and federal funding for housing and disaster recovery assistance; and oversees titling, licensing, inspection and enforcement of manufactured housing. Texas Governor Rick Perry announced the appointment on March 1.
Oxer earned his BSCE from Georgia Tech in 1973 and currently serves as managing director of McDaniell, Hunter and Prince Inc. In this role, he is responsible for managing transactions and project development for investment in infrastructure including water and wastewater utilities, renewable energy (wind, geothermal, solar), energy efficiency and demand side management. Prior to this position, Oxer was a senior project director at PBS&J in Atlanta and has worked in a variety of senior management positions with Enron Energy Services, Azurix Corporation, and Enron Energy & Construction Co.; and as an independent international project developer.
Oxer has served as a member of CEE's External Advisory Board since 2000. In addition, he is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Academy of Environmental Engineers; and former member and national committee chairman of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
His appointment to TDHCA is subject to Senate confirmation.
