A new beginning: Students return for fall classes

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomes about 250 new students as fall 2015 classes begin August 17, including more than 130 new graduate students who were on campus August 14 for orientation. (Photos by Joshua Stewart.)

The thrum of activity around the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering — and truly, the entire Georgia Tech campus — has been intensifying these last few days.

Classrooms are cleaned and ready.

Construction projects (most of them, anyway) are wrapping up.

Faculty members are back in their offices after a summer of travel and research.

And more than 130 new graduate students spent August 14 learning what the next few years of their lives will be like as they become experts in their fields.

As the doors open Monday morning, those students will make up about half of the 250 or so new students joining the School.

Yep, fall semester is here. And with it, comes a new academic year and a new year of excitement, stress, accomplishment, challenge.

Welcome back CEEatGT. Cheers to a new year.
