Georgia Tech is now home to the nation’s top-ranked programs in both civil engineering and environmental engineering.
U.S. News & World Report has released its 2027 Best Colleges rankings, placing Georgia Tech's undergraduate civil engineering and environmental engineering programs at No. 1 in their respective disciplines.
"Achieving No. 1 rankings in both disciplines is an incredible recognition for our School,” said Karen and John Huff School Chair Don Webster. “The innovativeness of our curriculum, our accomplished students, and dedicated faculty and staff have helped us earn this outstanding honor.”
This is the first time that both of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering’s undergraduate programs have been ranked No. 1 in the same year. It is also the first time that any school at Georgia Tech has had two programs ranked No. 1 in the same year.
Environmental engineering remains ranked No. 1 after claiming the top spot for the first time in the 2026 rankings. The program had previously held the No. 3 position for four consecutive years before rising to the top.
Civil engineering returned to the No. 1 position after being ranked No. 2 in the 2026 rankings. The program has consistently been among the nation's best, holding one of the top two spots for the past eleven years.
Overall, Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering was ranked No. 2, representing it’s highest national ranking to date.
