Georgia Govenor Sonny Purdue appointed the Honorable Charles (Chuck) H. Huling, P.E., of Cobb County to the Metropolitan North 
Georgia Water Planning District Governing Board, effective January 1, 2011. This term will be effective through June 29, 2013.
Huling earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1974. He recently retired as vice president of environmental affairs from Georgia Power, a Southern Company.
The Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (Metro Water District) was created by the Georgia General Assembly in 2001 to establish policy, create plans and promote intergovernmental coordination of all water issues in the District from a regional perspective. The Metro Water District includes fifteen counties and over ninety cities within the metro Atlanta region.
The primary purpose of the Metro Water District is to develop regional and watershed-specific plans for stormwater management, wastewater treatment and water supply and conservation. It is comprised of the county commission chairs of Cobb, Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties; the mayor of the City of Atlanta, the country commission chair or mayor of all other counties within the district with a water or sewer system, and ten citizen members.
Huling has served on Georgia Tech's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering External Advisory Board since 2006. Currently, he is the Board's incoming president. In addition, he serves on the advisory boards for the State of Georgia Small Business Environmental Assistance Program, and the University of Georgia's College of Public Health. He is a member of Georgia Tech's Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni. Huling and his wife, Becky, have two children.
