Jankovsky Named 2010 Outstanding Sophomore at Georgia Tech

Nathan Garrett Jankovsky recently completed his sophomore year in civil engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and he is certainly making a name for himself. Jankovsky earned the 2010 Georgia Tech Outstanding Sophomore of the Year award, a recognition that does not come easily, as any Georgia Tech graduate will tell you. The award recognizes the accomplishments of students in all schools at Georgia Tech and it is based on academic performance combined with extracurricular activities. Nathan completed his sophomore year with a GPA of 3.96, a truly impressive accomplishment that makes this award a well-deserved honor.

Nathan JankovskyNathan was born in Atlanta, Georgia but his family moved to Rome when he was young child. Nathan was a student of the Rome public school system, graduating from Rome High School in 2008. According to his mother, Jeri, he has always been interested in how things work, which is what lead him to engineering and to Georgia Tech. She says "Nathan had his heart set on going to Tech and it has been a perfect fit for him. He is an extremely hard working young man, who is driven to complete whatever task he undertakes." After completing his undergraduate degree in civil engineering, Nathan plans to attend graduate school. He hopes to eventually work on large-scale projects such as designing and building bridges and the like.

When Nathan is not concentrating on his academic studies, he enjoys outdoor activities such as whitewater kayaking, hiking, camping, long boarding, as well as mountain and road biking. He is the son of proud parents Frank and Jeri Jankovsky of Rome and he has one younger brother currently attending KSU.
