Dr. Jaehong Kim is the Georgia Power Distinguished Associate Professor in School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Georgia Institute of Technology. He received both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Technology (currently School of Chemical and Biological Engineering) from Seoul National University in Korea in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and Ph.D.degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002. His areas of research interest include: 1) environmental implication and application of carbonaceous nanomaterials;2) ozone and UV disinfection process optimization and design using computer models and laser induced fluorescence technique; and 3) high-pressure membrane process evaluation and simulation for the removal of emerging organic and inorganic contaminants. He is a recipient of various awards including Paul L. Busch Award from Water Environment Research Foundation (2009), Excellence in Research Award by School of CEE at Georgia Tech (2009), Excellence in Review Award from Environmental Science & Technology (2009), Editor's Award from ASCE Journal of Environmental Engineering (2004), and CETL/BP Junior Faculty Teaching Excellence Award from Georgia Tech (2007). His students at Georgia Tech also received various awards including President Undergraduate Research Award (4 times), AEES Outstanding MS Student in Environmental Engineering Award (2 times), Georgia Power Fellowship (3 times) and Best Student Presentation Award from American Chemical Society (2010).
