Unlocking Panama: CEE Alumni Event in Panama
In late March 2012, the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering hosted its 5th annual Alumni Weekend in Panama. This was the first alumni weekend hosted outside of the United States, and more than 100 participants joined us. The country of Panama has a very rich and diverse history, as well as a large population of Georgia Tech alumni who were heavily involved in the planning and execution of the event. The agenda included such highlights as behind-the-scenes tours of the new Panama City Metro project, the Miraflores Locks, the Panama Canal expansion project, the Gamboa Rainforest, as well as a Saturday evening gala event featuring Panamanian Vice President and GT Alumnus Juan Carlos Varela. The slideshow, below, gives a hint at the excitement of this venture.
