The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology earned high honors this year in U.S. News & World Report's annual publication, America's Best Colleges for 2010. Its undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering both moved up in the rankings and are enjoying a top-five status.
Georgia Tech sustained its top-ten ranking among public universities, maintaining its seventh place standing among national public universities and ranking 35th for all U.S. universities and colleges. The Institute's College of Engineering, the nation's largest, continued to have its program nationally recognized with seven of its schools ranking in the top five for their discipline. All of the schools within the College of Engineering were ranked in the top ten. The rankings are as follows:
• Industrial and Systems Engineering - 1st
• Aerospace Engineering - 2nd
• Biomedical Engineering - 2nd (up from 3rd last year)
• Civil Engineering - 3rd (up from 5th last year)
• Computer Engineering - 6th
• Electrical Engineering - 5th
• Environmental Engineering - 5th (up from 6th last year)
• Materials Science and Engineering - 7th (up from 9th last year)
• Mechanical Engineering - 4th
• Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering - 9th (up from 12th last year)
In addition, Georgia Tech's College of Management rose from 35th last year to 31st this year. Tech was also highlighted in 'Programs to Look For' for its co-op, internship, senior capstone and undergraduate research programs.
