Teizer Interviewed by Power magazine on Real-time Safety in the Construction Industry

Each year, nearly 1,200 construction workers die in the United States from injuries received on the job.  Twently-five percent of these fatalities involve heavy equipment.  Dr. Jochen Teizer, assistant professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and director of the RAPIDS Construction Safety and Technology Laboratory, is making tremendous progress in his research involving remote sensing and visualization technologies designed to improve worker situational awareness on busy and congested construction work sites. Dr. Teizer was interviewed by Power magazine's Larry Green about this growing problem. Teizer and Jimmie Hinze, Holland Professor in the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of  Building Construction and director of the Center for Construction Safety and Loss Control at the University of Florida, were the principal investigators for this project.
