     Title: 2010 U.S. News Graduate Rankings
CEE continues to excel!

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology remains among the nation’s top 10 graduate programs.  According to U.S. News and World Report, CEE holds its position for 2010 at No. 6 in civil engineering.  Of particular note, CEE moved up one spot to No. 5 in environmental engineering.

“This recognition marks tremendous momentum at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering,” said School Chair Joe Hughes. “We continually strive for excellence, and these rankings reflect not on the caliber of our programs, but also the quality of our people, communities, and culture.”

Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering was ranked No. 4 nationwide for the fifth consecutive year.  In all, 10 of Georgia Tech’s 11 programs ranked in the top 10 including industrial (No.1), biomedical (No. 2), aerospace (No. 4), electrical (No. 6), computer (No. 7), and materials (No. 8), mechanical engineering (No. 6), and nuclear engineering (No. 8).

“These rankings underscore the national and global excellence of our graduate programs,“ said Georgia Tech President G.P.”Bud” Peterson. “Our students and faculty, and the state of Georgia will continue to be beneficiaries of the many high- caliber programs and outstanding graduates that we provide.”

U.S. News and World Report rankings are determined by collecting and analyzing data such as peer assessments and research funds and serve to provide an independent assessment of the academic quality of graduate programs.
