Research Interests: Tsunamis, bores, non-linear and breaking waves, Subaerial and submarine landslides and oceanic volcano island collapses, Hurricane storm surges and coastal flooding Hydropower, wave and tidal energy Hydraulic, coastal, marine and offshore structures, River engineering, sediment transport and morphologic processes, Advanced whole field multi-dimensional laser measurement techniques, Numerical simulation of multiphase flows, Natural hazard mitigation and risk analysis, Natural and man-made hazards.

Georgakakos,Aris P - Professor

Research Interests: Remote sensing of hydrologic variables; flood and drought management; hydropower scheduling; agricultural planning; decision support systems for river basin planning, management, and conflict resolution.

Haas,Kevin A - Associate Professor

Research Interests: Dr. Haas' research interests include coastal engineering, numerical modeling of nearshore circulation, sediment transport in coastal regions, hydrodynamics of rip current systems, utilizing video for field and laboratory observations of waves and currents, modeling and field observations of morphodynamic evolution, sediment and contaminant transport in tidal marshes and extracting energy from waves and currents.

Luo,Jian - Assistant Professor

Research Interests: Modeling of groundwater contamination and remediation, Reactive transport in porous and fractured media, Water resources management and policy, Stochastic hydrogeology, Geostatistics, Linear and nonlinear systems, Inverse modeling.

Roberts,Philip J W - Professor

Research Interests: Environmental fluid mechanics, mixing and dynamics of rivers, lakes, coastal waters, and estuaries; outfalls for wastewater discharge; mathematical models of wastewater fate and transport; oceanographic field programs and data interpretation.

Stieglitz,Marc - Associate Professor

Research Interests: Watershed dynamics with emphasis on the interactions between climate, climate variabliltiy, hydrology and terrestrial biology; terrestrial carbon and nitrogen cycling; hydroclimatology and land-atmosphere interactions; impacts of climate change.

Stoesser,Thorsten - Assistant Professor

Research Interests: Computational fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, turbulent shear flows, sediment transport, hydraulic structures, turbulent mixing, environmental turbulence.

Sturm,Terry - Professor

Research Interests: Hydraulic engineering; open channel flow resistance; compound channel hydraulics; sediment transport; scour around bridge abutments; cohesive sediment re-suspension.

Webster,Donald R - Associate Chair and Professor

Research Interests: Fluid mechanics; turbulence; turbulent and chaotic mixing; biological, ecological and environmental flow applications; experimental methods.

Work,Paul A - Associate Professor

Research Interests: Dr. Work's research interests include coastal engineering, water waves, sediment and contaminant transport, beach nourishment, ports and harbors, coastal and riverine flooding, and other applications of environmental fluid mechanics. His projects often combine field observations and numerical modeling tools, and have been supported by a variety of sponsors, including the U.S. Geological Survey, NOAA’s Sea Grant program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Office of Naval Research.
