Auto-adaptive materials; earthquake engineering; structural dynamics; impact dynamics; design and analysis of bridge structures; protective systems; structural applications of smart materials.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Reginald DesRoches is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. He completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. His primary research and teaching interests are in earthquake engineering, seismic design and performance of bridges, structural dynamics, application of protective systems, and applications of smart materials. Dr. DesRoches is an Associate Editor of ASCE Structural Engineering Journal, and a member of serveral commitees, incluging EERI, TRB Seismic Design of Bridges Committee, and the FHWA Virtual Seismic Design Team. He currently is director of the Mid-America Earthquake Center Transportation Program.
