RESEARCH INTERESTS

Structural concrete and masonry; high performance concrete for prestressed concrete bridges; self-compacting concrete; repair and rehabilitation of bridges and buildings; earthquake resistant design and retrofit.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Lawrence F. Kahn has been a Professor of Structural Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology since 1976. He received his BS, MS and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University, University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), and the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), respectively. Dr. Kahn worked for four years as a structural engineer for the U.S. Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory and for one year with Bechtel Corporation. He has conducted experimental and field research in the following areas: earthquake resistance of structural concrete and masonry, repair and strengthening of structural concrete and masonry, use of high-performance concretes for prestressed concrete bridges, and computer-aided structural design.
