Faculty & Staff

 As of Fall 2005, the General Faculty of the School numbered 96 individuals, including 60 academic (tenure or tenure track) faculty members, 36 research and other faculty members. Of the 60 academic faculty members, 31 are Professors, 18 are Associate Professors, and 11 are Assistant Professors.
Academic faculty numbers include 8 faculty based at GT-Savannah (GTS). Our research and other faculty is comprised of 36 individuals including research engineers, research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and academic professionals. Serving the needs of our students and faculty is a hard working staff numbering 45 individuals. Our staff is organized into 5 offices including student services, business services, administrative services, information system services, and instructional services. A number of our faculty serve in administrative positions. From the Institute, the list includes President G. Wayne Clough, Provost Jean-Lou Chameau, and Associate Provost Nelson Baker. From the School, the list includes School Chair Joe Hughes, Associate Chair John Leonard, Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies Dr. Laurence Jacobs, Associate Chair for Graduate Studies Dr. Kenneth Will. From Georgia Tech-Savannah, the list includes GTS Director, Dr. J. David Frost, and Associate Director F. Michael Saunders.

The School hosts three named chairs and professorships. Dr. Jean-Lou Chameau is the Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Environmental Technologies. Dr. Armistead Russell is the Georgia Power Distinguished Professor in Environmental Engineering. Dr. Juan Santamarina is the Goizueta Foundation Faculty Chair.

The faculty includes two members of the National Academy of Engineering (Dr. Clough and Dr. Ellingwood) and seventeen registered professional engineers.

Licensure is the mark of a professional, and an indicator of dedication to integrity, hard work, and creativity. Licensed engineers achieve an enhanced status in the eyes of the public, which equates the engineer with professionals licensed in other fields. The School is pleased to note that the following faculty members are registered professional engineers: Mustafa Aral, Susan Burns, G. Wayne Clough, Bruce Ellingwood, Leroy Emkin, J.
