Civil undergrad Laura O’Connell talks with President Obama about paying for college

Second-year civil engineering student Laura O’Connell didn’t get to sit in McCamish Pavilion during President Obama’s visit to Georgia Tech last week.

She had an arguably better experience.

O’Connell was one of three Tech students who met with the president for a half-hour roundtable conversation after his speech at McCamish. Online media outlet Vice filmed the conversation as part of their coverage of Obama's visit.

“He was very understanding of our struggles,” she told the Georgia Tech News Center. “He makes you feel like your opinion really matters. I was really impressed with how knowledgeable he was as he answered our questions and addressed our concerns.”
