  • Course Description: 3-3-4 Prerequisites: ESM 3301, EAS 2501, 2102. Basic principles of the properties of materials. Physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of metals, concrete, timber, masonry, and asphalt. The laboratory period is for tests, demonstrations, and writing reports.

CEE 4803C/8802B Materials Science of Concrete
  • Course Description: 3-3-0 Prerequisites: CEE 3020. In-depth coverage of selection of materials and mixture design for concrete durability, strength, and dimensional stability. Topics include: cement manufacture and hydration, mineral and chemical admixtures, microstructure development, high strength concrete mixture design, and concrete fracture mechanics. Students participate in a high strength concrete competition.
